Sometimes the organic growth of an IP LAN or even WAN infrastructure can take place over a number of years, often with a number of IT Managers all trying to address the ever increasing demands of the business. Combining department priorities, business case priorities and sometimes political priorities often means that the planned approach to network growth goes straight out of the window.

It's at this point that ever increasing network bottlenecks, critical servers, and network weak spots start to buckle under the pressure, ultimately reflecting badly on the incumbent IT manager and IT team.

It's a well known fact that a fresh pair of eyes can often quickly establish a problem area and a cost effective way forward into the future, bringing the network plan back into the fold and relieving the pressure of the day to day 'Fire Fight'.

At ANS we come across this problem on a day-to-day, network-to-network basis and its more common than most people think. If you look at the potential down time over the course of a year, then networking issues can and usually are costing your business customers thousands of pounds in poor productivity and lost working time.

This is why as part of our IP-VANTAGE Support services, we have devised a planned Network Health Check to help you and your customers highlight the potential areas of concern quickly and effectively, without disrupting the dayto-day running of the business.

Our Senior Technical Support Specialist will attend site for an initial meeting to discuss the current perceived state of the network and performance expectations with the relevant personnel. They will also talk in depth about what the company wishes to achieve and what will be required from the network in the future. This detailed brief will allow our Specialist to then monitor the state of the network and look at areas of specific concern, before finally spending time completing a full in-depth report to be delivered and talked through in person, either within the IT department or if specifically requested directly to the department heads or board of directors. These independent findings can then be used to build a strategic plan for the immediate fix of any critical issues and to highlight areas that may need attention as the network grows.

IP-VANTAGE Health Checks can be carried out on any size of network and a summary of included processes is listed below:

Summary

  • Senior Support Specialist to talk in-depth with Key IT personnel (Phone/Meeting)
  • SSS to attend site and perform a full analysis of the network
    (number of days depends on size of network)
  • SSS to write a full report concerning findings on the network and recommendations to improve network performance current & future issues
  • SSS to present findings to IT personnel IP-VANTAGE Health Check Upgrades
  • SSS to act as on-going consultant or provide quarterly review meetings (may be included in some IP-VANTAGE Support packages
  • SSS to provide a detailed project implementation plan and instigate/manage
    changes
  • SSS to present report and recommendations at customer board meeting
  • IP-VANTAGE to offer full remote managed services if customer wishes to completely outsource network management and support services

As an incentive IP-VANTAGE are offering a one day network health check to all existing maintenance customers who currently have a contract exceeding £5,000. Alternatively this health check can be purchased separately and is listed as an equivalent band 'E' install. A standard two-day comprehensive health check is also available as a band 'F' equivalent product.
